Georgia Lord was most recently elected to serve her final term as the Mayor of Goodyear in 2017. Her civic service first began in 2005 as a member of the city council. She resigned as Vice Mayor to run for Mayor in 2011 to fill a two-year unexpired term. She was re-elected to serve her second term as Mayor in 2013. Prior to serving on the city council, she was the chair of the Goodyear City Center Technical Advisory Committee, which was responsible for crafting Goodyear’s downtown strategy. Her goals are to attract new business and clean industries, enhance public safety services, and to develop a sustainable downtown for Goodyear.
Mayor Lord represents Goodyear on the Maricopa Association of Governments (MAG) Regional Council and Transportation Policy Committee. She serves on the Arizona League of Cities and Towns Executive Committee and on the WESTMARC Board of Directors and Executive Committee. Mayor Lord is a member of the Greater Phoenix Economic Council Board of Directors and is a past Chair of the GPEC Ambassadors Steering Committee, and previously served on the GPEC International Leadership Council. GPEC awarded Mayor Lord the Certified Ambassador Award in recognition of her promotion and advancement of economic development in greater Phoenix. In 2014, AZ Business Magazine also recognized her as one of the top 50 Most Influential Women in Arizona Business.
Mayor Lord has extensive experience in real estate sales from her time working for a national homebuilder and upon receiving her Real Estate certification from Arizona State University. Her real estate experience gives her insight into how to create high quality, attractive communities. She attended Michigan State University and also graduated with fluency in German from the State Department Institute for German Language before joining her husband overseas during his diplomatic tour of duty in the U.S. Air Force.
